DJ Jess Mix VI – Time Out NY by DJ Jess

DJ Jess

With searing wit and incredible style, DJ Jess has moonwalked his way to the top of NYC underground club scene. His 9 years in the business have given him a flair for not just reading a crowd, but whipping them into a cheering, enthusiastic melee. His talent for mixing the best of Electro, House, Indie, Brit Pop, classic New Wave, dirty Disco, and Rock n’ Roll has earned him the accolade of “Best DJ” in NYC three times by The L Magazine and Citysearch.com, while his events and clubs are continually voted “Best Party” in The Village Voice, The L Magazine, Paper Magazine, and more. Both in demand and energetic on a stage, he’s shared bills with The Bloody Beetroots, Designer Drugs, MSTRKRFT, Hot Chip, Chromeo, Steve Aoki, Felix Da Housecat, Ladytron, Make the Girl Dance, Swedish House Mafia, and the list goes on and on. Model, photographer, and a musician, he’s remixed Passion Pit, Semi Precious Weapons, and Empire of the Sun, to name a few.   DJ Jess doesn’t just bring the party: he seduces it, bombards it with vodka shots, spins it around the dance floor, and wakes up with it the next morning in a strange apartment.

With DJ credentials firmly in tow, he’s taken his wicked, desperate, and erotic experiences of the NYC underground and expressed them in original song. The result is nothing less than poetry at it’s most abnormal; poignancy at it’s most deviant.

His eye for the strangely sexual has led to him taking some of the most unashamed, erotic, and delightful photographs of NYC’s seedy underbelly. Using nothing but charm, talent, and excellent taste, he photographs poetry in perversion, romance in ruins, and passion in distortion.   View his favorite photographs here.
